Being a person of faith is no shield to the inevitable hardships and struggles of life. We still hurt. We still grieve. We still ache with questions that seem to defy answers. As your church, we are humbled to get share in all of life’s journeys – providing hope, comfort, love, and support in Christ-centered care.

Pastoral Care & Counseling
There are seasons in all our lives when we struggle, when we hurt, when we encounter questions that defy answers. In these times, what we might need most is simply someone to listen, to care, and to offer wise and spiritual counsel – reminding us of God’s love and of God’s truth as contained in the Bible. Each of our pastors is trained to offer such care and support in personal counseling sessions. From marriage and family problems to deep theological questions, our goal is to meet the deep spiritual needs of our community.

Flower Delivery
Ever wonder what happens to Sunday’s altar flowers? White’s Chapel shares the beauty of these flowers with those who have been unable to attend Sunday services. Weekly, talented volunteers change the large arrangements into smaller arrangements and personally deliver the arrangements to individuals of our church community who are ill, in healthcare facilities, homebound or hospitalized.

Card Care Ministry
Members of this team write and send cards once a month to uplift and comfort those dealing with long-term illness, or those needing continued encouragement. White’s Chapel provides the cards and postage. Volunteers may perform this ministry from home.

Meals in Time of Need
If you can provide an occasional meal to members of our church community, Meals In Time of Need would like for you join their team. Volunteers of this ministry are compassion in action, as they extend the love of Christ through delivering meals as needed to those of our church community. Meal requests are sent via email from “MealTrain” where you can see the requests, the calendar and sign up online.

Funeral Ushers
Volunteers who serve as funeral ushers provide a warm, loving presence of Christ as they assist the officiating pastors, funeral director and families during the worship service celebrating the life of a loved one. Ushers, serving with the Coordinator of Care and Bereavement, greet, seat, and recess guests.

Funeral Reception Hosts
White’s Chapel may offer to host a reception to bereaved families, preceding or following a funeral/memorial service. Individuals serving on this committee provide a caring, comfortable atmosphere as the family and friends gather to share in a time together and a light snack. Working in conjunction with the Coordinator of Care and Bereavement, volunteer hostesses assist in the set up, serving, and cleanup for this ministry.

The above ministries would not take place without our loving and dedicated volunteers. If you would like to serve in one of these ministries or know someone that is in need and would benefit from one of these ministries, please contact us.

Stephen Ministry (One-on-One Care)
Stephen Ministers are trained lay people who have a heart for caring for the needs of their church members and neighbors. Through a one-on-one relationship, a Stephen Minister meets with a person who has a need for someone who can listen and provide caring support during a difficult period or crisis in one’s life. Good Samaritans
There are times individuals in our church community are unable to attend the activities or worship services at WC. This may be long term for a variety of reasons (i.e., illness, age, or recovery from surgery). Yet, with the support of our Good Samaritan volunteers, WC’s love of Christ is extended to the homebound, those in assisted living facilities and hospitals through personal visits. If you would like to become a Good Samaritan or know of someone who could benefit from a visiting Good Samaritan, contact the church office at 817-481-4147.

The Christian funeral is a service of worship in which God’s people witness to their faith in the hope of the Gospel, the communion of saints, the resurrection, and in which the assurance of God’s love and salvation in Christ is ministered, especially to the Christian bereaved.

A funeral or memorial service at White’s Chapel Methodist Church is worship of the living God. The funeral is God’s way of bringing comfort to the hearts of those who mourn as Scripture is reflected upon, prayer is offered, grief is expressed, and remembrance is cherished. It is an occasion in which we celebrate life and the promise of resurrection.

The presence of family and friends at this time supports and strengthens those who mourn. The service gives voice to the community which gives thanks for the life of the one who is deceased, and learns the valuable lessons for life through death. Thus, in the Christian funeral, we gather to worship God and confess our faith in a living Savior. Though we mourn our loss and remember our loved one, our eyes are firmly fixed on Jesus, the One in whom our hope is fixed.

It is our desire that the following materials will serve as a source of information which will be a guide for what is often an overwhelming experience of making arrangements for one whom we love.

May the peace of the Lord and the assurance of God’s promise of eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ be with you always.

Columbarium Services at White's Chapel
For many of us, the time of stress and grief following the death of a loved one is compounded by the need to make funeral and cemetery arrangements in a short period of time. Because of this, pre-planning has become a thoughtful gift to ease the burden on those left behind.

Although it may not be something you have yet considered, establishing a permanent resting place and memorial location is important not only for the deceased but also for friends and family for generations to come. In an era when people might call many different cities “home” over a lifetime, it can be difficult to choose a location that is poignant and meaningful.

In response to these needs, inurnment in the White’s Chapel Columbarium provides members of White’s Chapel and their families the opportunity to choose the shadow of the church, which has been central to their lives, as their final resting place. The church is a source of peace and support throughout all stages of our lives, and we pray that this beautiful, spiritually powerful memorial will serve as a wonderful location for friends and family to gather in remembrance and reflection long into the future.

For many, life can present unforeseen challenges, White's Chapel support groups are available to help comfort, inform and care for people facing difficult situations. From groups focused on family identities, health concerns or cancer diagnoses to those focused on supporting people through grief, church support groups offer hope and encouragement to many people in need.

Stephen Ministers at White’s Chapel are part of a larger organization of trained lay people who have a heart for caring for the needs of their church members and neighbors. Through a one-on-one relationship, an assigned Stephen Minister meets with a person who has a need for someone who can listen and provide caring support during a difficult period or crisis on one’s life. Sometimes this is for a short period of time and for others, it can be a longer term relationship. We realize that grief and loss come in many different ways to people and Stephen Ministers have the compassion, love and spiritual gifts to share during this difficult journey.

Stephen Ministry is a Christian service with a strong focus on God’s love and spiritual encouragement. Female Stephen Ministers are always paired with female care receivers and likewise, male Stephen Ministers with male care receivers. Each care receiver can be assured of total confidentiality in the process. Some of the needs that Stephen Ministers seek to serve but are not limited to:

·      Hospitalized persons
·      Aging and elderly
·      Terminally ill
·      Those with disabilities and their families
·      Those moving into or out of our community
·      Those needing support of a Christian friend
·      Those facing transitions
·      Those separated or divorced
·      Homebound persons
·      Household experiencing birth, adoption, foster care
·      Those with job crises
·      Loss of a child or loved one
