Human Trafficking 101: Awareness & How to Combat
April 19 | 6 to 7 p.m. | Rawlins Lecture Hall White’s Chapel has partnered with the Poiema Foundation to help bring awareness to the growing problem of domestic human trafficking through education and action. The upcoming class will outline how to recognize trafficked victims and their perpetrators, as well as how to be a part of the solution to this wide-spread problem. It will also highlight the powerful stories of survivors. For more information contact Melissa Zimmerman. After completion of this class, volunteers will be able to participate in the Community Awareness Outreach event on Saturday, April 29, from 9 a.m. to noon in Evans Hall. After a short training session, teams led by experienced team leaders will head to designated places in high-risk areas to distribute posters of missing minors. In January, the Poiema Foundation had 13 outreach events into the community to pass out fliers on 23 different routes looking for 19 kids, and they recovered 10 kids!! For more information, visit poiemafoundation.org. Thank you for your interest and support; together we can end Human trafficking! |
