Adult Discipleship

To be a disciple of Jesus Christ means that we understand ourselves and our on-going journeys of faith through the eyes of a student. To meet the community’s need for transformation, the church offers Bible studies, classes, and programs for people of all ages and interests.
"Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." (Matthew 28:18-20)

There are many different studies offered at the church. Studies usually center around Scripture, books, spiritual practices, life experiences, and/or other topics of interest. Recurring studies led by the Co-Pastors include: JumpStart Bible Study, Tuesday Morning Pastors’ Bible Study, and Point|Counterpoint. Baptism 101, a class that outlines the church’s understanding of baptism and the process, is also offered at various times during each semester and is led by associate pastors.

Classic Adult Fellowship (CAF)
Classic Adult Fellowship (CAF) is a group that definitely agrees with Lincoln! Anyone can grow old, but our mantra is to continue to experience new things, as well as celebrate our history and common bonds through fellowship. CAF is a great group to belong to if you are in your fifties or older, love the Lord, and enjoy having fun in group settings! You do not need to be a member of White’s Chapel to join us; all are welcome and encouraged to be a part of a great network of friends. From veterans to retired teachers and beyond, we can all find a place to belong through Christ’s love. If living life to the fullest is on your to-do list, we’ll save a seat for you!

Small Groups exist to make disciples who make disciples in relational environments.
Why Join?

"It's a community of contagious love." (Acts 2:42-47)
We were not created to lead lives of isolation and desperation. We were created in the image of God. God is love and demonstrates his love through relationships. We were created to love and be loved. When we gather in small groups, we reflect the love of God for our neighbors by sharing the load, praying for each other, serving alongside each other, encouraging each other, as well as love God through studying Scripture, giving praise, and following Godly teaching – ALL wonderful aspects of being a part of an Encounter Group.

​We are Better Together (Luke 10, Mark 6:7)
Jesus sent his disciples out two by two so that no one would have to walk alone. Simply put, we are better together. We need each other to survive and thrive. Members of Encounter Groups support each other during the ups and downs of life. Members are willing to walk with you in the dark valleys of life and celebrate with you during your mountain top experiences. Being in an Encounter Group means that no one will have to walk through life alone.

When We Gather, We Encounter Jesus (Matthew 18:20)
​Jesus promised to show up where two or three are gathered in his name. Encounter Groups put Jesus at the center of all that we do. The purpose of the groups is to become more like Jesus, to love like Jesus, walk like Jesus, talk like Jesus. To do so, we should gather together in a small group like Jesus did with his disciples. So when we gather, we encounter the living Christ.

Start or Join an Community Group at Any Time!
Community Groups meet year-round with the goal to become more like Jesus through serving, praying, encouraging, loving, and studying in a small group beyond the walls of the church. Contact Tracy Christensen for an opportunity to connect with other women, men, couples, and co-eds in your stage of life. Newly formed groups will start with the Community Group Kick-off Curriculum and will spend your first eight-weeks meeting on campus at White’s Chapel before moving to an off-campus location.

Taking care of your mind, soul and body is important to us! We offer many exercise classes such as Stretch & Strengthen or Chair Yoga, as well as give you the chance to help others through donating blood or receiving a flu shot.

Southlake Focus Group
When: Thursdays | 7:30 - 10:30 a.m.
Where: Evans Hall
Southlake Focus Group is an independent, non-denominational networking group for professionals in career transition. Southlake Focus Group exists to support all job seekers during their job search, at no charge. This group is led by volunteers from the community and various industries and meets weekly in Evans Hall. Registration is not necessary. Participants will be guided once they are on campus.
Marriage Ministry

DFW Golf Tour

Travel with a group of friends to play different golf courses around the metroplex. About once a month we have a friendly competition at a different course each time. We scramble, we shamble, we stable ford. Courses will be decided throughout the fall, as well as some fun new formats. Most events take place on Fridays.

Men and women are invited to join us as we play different formats at courses around DFW. Whether you’re a single or have a group, you’re invited to some friendly competition.

WC Singles
Whites Chapel United Methodist Church is excited to announce the creation of a New Single Ministry. This ministry is designed for men and women who are divorced, widowed, or have never been married who desire to have variety of fun opportunities for singles to engage in, while keeping our focus on having a friendly and respectable atmosphere. This ministry will be an extension beyond our Suburban Singles Sunday School class by reaching out to the singles within our communities within Southlake, Grapevine, Colleyville and Keller areas. This ministry provides a variety of ways for single in their 30’s and 40’s to serve, get together for social activities, and build a community of like-minded active individuals who want to do things together outside the walls of the church

Spiritual Formation
​In spiritual formation we are on a pilgrimage rather than a journey guided by spiritual practices/disciplines that aid in formation. We lean into less is more and work toward surrendering our agenda and ego in an attempt to deepen our relationship with God, self, and others. A few of these “soul tending” practices are silence, solitude, Lectio Divina (sacred reading), prayer, contemplation, and meditation.
What is Spiritual Formation?
If you have attended an Open House at White’s Chapel you may have encountered the Spiritual Formation table and wondered - “What is Spiritual Formation?”

This is a common question that I encounter in conversations with people who are curious about spiritual formation. There are many layers to the answer to this question. But to simplify it, my reply is using a user-friendly illustration. I tell people that I am their swimming instructor that is here to help them remove their floaties and guide them to the deeper waters of their faith experience.

In the following conversations with contemplative teacher, Dr. Rev. Jerry Webber we discuss the layers of spiritual formation and the contemplative life flow.

A quiet space that invites reflection and prayer.
Oasis – A quiet space that invites reflection and prayer. You are invited to come and experience a time of respite with an embody prayer experience or a brief discussion reflecting on God’s Presence in our daily lives in the midst of busyness. The purpose of this space is to lean into a time of solitude, soul tending, or recharge.

Young Adult Ministry
We provide a space for individuals, 18-30 years old, to learn about Scripture and participate in social events.  The group typically meets on Tuesday nights to engage in worship, have relevant conversation about Scripture, and enjoy community with one another.
Tuesday Nights
Every Tuesday young adults meet in Walton Chapel at 6:30 p.m. to share a meal and spend time worshiping with one another. We will walk through scripture, engage in moving worship and have time to share questions & reflections.

Young Adults Bible & Brew
Second Thursday of Each Month | 7 p.m.
On the second Thursday of each month, WC Young Adults will meet at local breweries to dive deeper into discipleship by discussing different topics (examples of the enneagram, free will, death, etc.). This is a time for people to engage in relevant conversations and community.

WC College and Young Adult Sunday Morning
Begins Sunday, Jan. 14 | 11 a.m.
Join WC College Students and Young Adults for a new class Sunday Mornings from 11 a.m. to noon. The group is a mix of young singles and couples, between the ages of 18-30, who are seeking to find community with other Christians in their age group. During their time together, participants will focus on engaging in relevant conversation about life, faith and connecting on a deeper level with the weekly sermons. No registration necessary.
